Succulents
Succulents have long been among the most popular choices for indoor plants, and for good reason. They come in an impressive variety of shapes and sizes and require minimal maintenance, needing very little watering or pruning. This is due to their specialized tissues in its thickened leaves, stems, or roots to store water. Through evolution, these adaptations allow succulents to survive extended periods of drought with little to no moisture.

Light Requirements
Succulents thrive in bright light, so placing them in a sunny room near a window is best!
Watering Requirements
Succulents come from dry climates, so they don’t need much water. Wait until the soil feels completely dry before watering again — a quick finger test works great!
Fertilizing Requirements
Fertilizing is not essential for succulents, but it can encourage healthier growth and more vibrant foliage. A general all-purpose fertilizer, such as a 10-10-10 formula, works well. The frequency and method of application will depend on the type of fertilizer you use.
Two common types of fertilizer include:
- Water-Soluble:
A powder or liquid that is mixed with water. Always follow the application rate listed on the product label.
- Granular:
Mixed into the soil or applied as a top dressing. This type releases nutrients slowly over time. Follow the rate recommended on the packaging.
⚠️ Tip: Be cautious not to over-fertilize, as this can cause the plant to “burn.” If you’re unsure, start with half the recommended amount to avoid damage.
